Physician - Section Chief, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - Helen DeVos Children's Hospital - Grand Rapids, MI

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH) offers an excellent opportunity for a full-time BC/BE Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to lead in the role of Section Chief. Reporting to the system division chief of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, the section chief leads psychiatrists and APPs in their inpatient and outpatient roles. As section chief, you would maintain a clinical practice and have dedicated time to lead your team, partner with the operational manager, and collaborate with section chef of pediatric psychology. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience and has practiced within a children's hospital system, however we will consider candidates with 1+ years of experience.

The growing HDVCH multidisciplinary team includes child psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, pediatric psychologists, and behavioral medicine physicians among others. Our large patient population is served through consult-liaison services, outpatient consult bridge clinic, outpatient practice, and our autism center of excellence. The children's hospital is also home to a new 12-bed pediatric medical psychiatric unit that opened in the summer of 2024.

We offer 90-minute evaluations and 30-minute outpatient follow ups with comprehensive psychology, psychotherapy and nursing support for your practice. Our position can support a H1b visa candidate.

As the prime pediatric clinical academic partner of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital offers teaching opportunities and academic appointments for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree

  • Required Doctorate MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathy)

  • 1 year of relevant experience Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 1+ year of related experience Required

  • 1 year of relevant experience to three years experience in clinical practice, preferably in a medical group setting Required

  • Experience in leading project teams and a commitment to develop as a physician leader Required

  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or

  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required

  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
