Corewell Health Physician – Pediatric Ophthalmologist – Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital – Grand Rapids, MI in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is recruiting a fellowship-trained BC/BE pediatric ophthalmologist who has excellent clinical and surgical skills and is committed to exceptional patient care. The successful candidate should have experience in all aspects of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus care and will work alongside our exceptional team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmic technicians, and opticians. Our diverse patient population and broad geographic referral basis provides a great depth of pathology for a fulfilling practice.
Responsibilities:
Provide outpatient medical and surgical ophthalmic care to pediatric and adult strabismus patients
Provide pediatric inpatient ophthalmic consultation as well as services for retinopathy of prematurity on a rotation basis with colleagues
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals on a multidisciplinary level as needed for best outcomes
Interact with rotating ophthalmology residents, pediatric residents and medical students
Academic appointment through Michigan State University with research opportunities
Must be fellowship trained in Pediatric Ophthalmology
Essential Functions
Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others
Maintain records and documentation as necessary
Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and always ensures coverage of case load.
Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
Communicates with other members of the health care team to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient / family advocate.
Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development / application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
Qualifications
License - State of Michigan (MD/DO)
DEA Registration - State of Michigan
BC/BE in Ophthalmology
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
