Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. This role involves operating and setting up 5 axis CNC mills to produce precise parts according to customer process documentation. The position requires a firm understanding of machining center theory, including x, y, and z axes, as well as edge and center line pickup. Training will take place on the 1st shift for 30-90 days before transitioning to the C Shift Weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up 5 axis CNC mills to produce parts according to customer process documentation.

  • Operate multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously.

  • Correctly set up jobs on assigned machines, including tool changes.

  • Perform 1st piece, in-process, and last piece inspections using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges, and CMM equipment.

  • Perform data collection and communication tasks in Job Boss and other applications.

  • Perform operator maintenance.

  • Diagnose and correct equipment or tool issues.

Essential Skills

  • 3 years of CNC Machining with 5 Axis Mills experience.

  • Firm understanding of machining center theory, including x, y, and z axes, and edge and center line pickup.

  • Ability to use common measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with GD&T, gauging, and measuring.

  • Experience in a job shop machining center for the aerospace industry.

  • Ability to work with complex parts requiring very close tolerances.

Work Environment

This position is in a job shop machining center for the aerospace industry, where the runs range from 20-70 pieces. The parts are complex and require very close tolerances. Training will take place on the 1st shift for 30-90 days before moving to the respective shift. Available shifts include a 10-hour M-Th shift with a flexible start time between 4:30pm and 7:30pm (with a $1 shift premium), a 12-hour C shift, and a 12-hour D shift from 6pm-6am (with a $3 shift premium).
