Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Engineer Senior in Grand Prairie, Texas

Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to join the Precision Fires Manufacturing Engineering team supporting the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) and Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System Extended Range. The programs are in various states from full rate production to low-rate initial production with opportunities to work on multiple efforts.

This position will involve developing or maturing manufacturing readiness assessments, creating manufacturing plans, make or buy analysis, presenting at various design and manufacturing reviews, transition new or revised designs from development to production, proposal estimating , identifying risks to production and implementing mitigation plans, leading manufacturing process line validation activities, driving cost reduction initiatives to closure, travel to various manufacturing facilities including suppliers and other Lockheed sites to support testing and hardware or tooling related issues that may arise, and any other program related manufacturing or tooling issues that may arise. Experience building positive relationships, communicating across functional and physical boundaries, managing cost, schedule, quality, and safety is critical for the role.

This position will evaluate electro-mechanical designs and processes to provide manufacturing feedback to lead to affordable and manufacturable designs while still meeting performance requirements. The ability to question design requirements that drive cost to ensure there is good technical justification is desired. Being able to build relationships and work in collaborative environment with other disciplines and across multiple locations is essential.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline

Experience manufacturing circuit card assemblies to J-STD-001 standards

Experience with Manufacturing / Assembly / Production processes

Experience interpreting drawings, Computer Aided Design (CAD) models, product/performance specifications and other systems integration technical data

Ability to obtain or currently possess a Secret Clearance

Ability to travel domestic and/or international

Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

Ability to liaison between LM Subcontractors, internal disciplines, and LM shop(s) Production Operations

Demonstrated effective communication skills including verbal, listening, technical writing and presentations

Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including team building, collaboration and developing enduring business relationships

Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex

Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

Desired Skills:

Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical people

Bachelors or higher degree in technical discipline (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, etc.)

Experience with electrical PWB/CCA production and electrical harness fabrication

Experience in design for manufacturing / assembly or design to cost

Experience with development programs and/or conceptual designs

Experience working with Government customers

Experience Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles. Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification

Knowledge of SAP and/or an MRP production control system

Previous experience implementing change to improve processes / Process Improvement experience

Proven ability to improve cost, schedule, quality and/or safety

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
