Job Description

The Director of Industrial Engineering will lead and oversee all aspects of the industrial engineering department and is a key leader within a cross-disciplinary team driving the design, development and execution of actuation systems for next generation of military and commercial aircraft. Responsibilities include streamlining current processes, implementing new strategies, and ensuring that engineering projects are executed efficiently and effectively and will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and requirements capture though manufacture and field support.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Leads, manages, and develops a high-performing industrial engineering team.

  • Oversees the design, implementation, and optimization of production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Develops and implement industrial engineering strategies that align with the company's overall objectives.

  • Conducts cost-benefit analyses to identify and justify process improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborates with other departments, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of engineering projects.

  • Utilizes data-driven analysis and modeling to solve complex manufacturing and production issues.

  • Implements lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and corporate policies.

  • Oversees the management of industrial engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Manages the industrial engineering budget and resource allocation.

  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of engineering processes and initiatives.

  • Stays current with advancements in industrial engineering technology and methodologies to continuously improve operations.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Complementary Description

This position requires use of information or access to hardware that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Job Requirements

Required Competencies:

Education/Experience :

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, aerospace, electrical, engineering technology, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or systems engineering.

  • 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage, lead, guide and motivate a team

  • Must have excellent foresight, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, identify root cause and propose effective solutions

  • Understands and is proficient with project management, engineering documentation requirements, and engineering analysis tools.

  • Strong knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services

  • Strong knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, policies, & compliance requirements.

  • Experience in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical systems

  • Understands the safety and environmental implications of architecture decisions required for aerospace applications.

  • Strong understanding of root cause corrective action.

  • Strong understanding of change control management.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision

  • Ability to work closely with internal and external customers at engineering and management levels with minimum supervision

  • Experience presenting technical plans or speaking on technical topics to project teams, customers or other groups as required

Physical Demands:

Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds across office for various needs.

The work environment is split between office & laboratory work, with most work being performed in the office. Noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level in the lab can occasionally require hearing protection.
