DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

This position is open to Colorado residents and non-residents applicants.

This position is covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State of Colorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins).

New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

About the Unit This position works in CDOT's Region 3, Section 2 Maintenance Section in Grand Junction, CO. The Section supports the operation of public transportation facilities and services in support of the social, economic, and environmental goals of the people of Colorado; provides administrative and technical support to interpret, coordinate, facilitate and provide factual information to the traveling public, maintenance supervisors, maintenance section employees, and department personnel pertaining to Colorado Department of Transportation policies and procedures using the most efficient, effective, and resourceful methods possible.

About the Position The Technician III provides technical and administrative support by implementing professional standards in communication, answering inquiries from the public and state employees concerning departmental policies, procedures, and general road conditions and making referrals to appropriate information sources. This position implements office policies and processes in order to increase efficiency; collects, evaluates, collates, and creates reports; completes data entry and tracks various information and documents in a variety of computer systems. The Tech III accurately processes invoices, correspondence, timesheets, personnel and other departmental forms, extra legal permits, general mail, and copies of requested data. The Technician III administers the Adopt A Highway program, and proctors Oral Board and promotional assessments. This position must provide support to the Maintenance Superintendent, Deputy Maintenance Superintendents, Technician V, Shop Supervisors and employees.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Section Technical Support

Provides technical support to the Maintenance Superintendent, Deputy Maintenance Superintendents, Technician V, LTC Ops I's and maintenance employees; Facilitates functions in the areas of quality customer service tracking and resolutions and maintains procedures to coordinate, collect and monitor information and digital and paper files; Provides information to/assists complainants and or directs them to the proper person for resolution; documents and tracks resolutions to ensure consistency in in the future; Communicates emergency situations immediately via telephone or highway band radio as needed; collects information from public and notifies proper CDOT personnel of problems or hazards that may exist; Schedules and tracks employee DOT Physicals and Pulmonary Function Testing and ensures timely renewals; Works with Region Safety Officer to ensure Pulmonary Function Tests are completed annually for fit-testing of fire fighting breathing apparatus; Independently contacts vendors to obtain price quotes for purchase orders needed by the maintenance section; Creates Purchase Orders, pays invoices and tracks PO balances; Administers the Adopt A Highway program, enrolling participants, ensuring accurate completion of paperwork; determines sign size, orders signs and coordinates installation; tracks supplies and ensures compliance with the program guidelines and authorizes the removal of signs for non-compliance; Proctors promotional testing, troubleshooting login issues and ensuring completion of required paperwork.
