All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. Workers are needed to assist in planting, maintaining and harvesting diversified ground crops according to the instruction of the supervisor. Workers will work in a greenhouse planting and transplanting seedlings. Workers will perform field work including, planting, transplanting, weeding, thinning, hoeing and other tasks required in the planting, maintaining, and harvesting of crops. Workers will sort, wash, pack and otherwise prepare various crops for storage and shipping. Worker may load and unload trucks and other farm vehicles, setup and operate various irrigation equipment, and cut brush and other vegetation in and around fields, buildings and equipment. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties, haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer\'s fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver\'s license. Worker must harvest crops according to the quality and method of the employer. Workers must be able to work in various extreme weather conditions from damp and cold fall days to hot and humid summer days. Work is physically demanding, bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. One month of experience is required for the work requested in job description. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. The employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties. Workers may be required to work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Friday and may be required to work 10-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Saturdays. Workers will be given at least 30-minutes lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. The workers will return to work after their 30 minutes are up. Workers will also receive a 15-minute break in the morning and 15-minutes in the afternoon as agreed upon by the worker and management. The employer will provide one day of training and two days of work for the worker to satisfactorily demonstrate proficiency in performing the duties described in this job description. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English.
