General Definition and Scope of Job

Medical Laboratory Scientist I

Performs analysis of blood, urine, stool and body fluids. Evaluates reports on the basis of the clinical and analytical conditions and is responsible for maintaining the quality of the laboratory testing.

Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements

Minimum Skills, Experience and Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist (aka: Medical Technology) or related discipline, Registry or Certification by professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required. Continuation of employment is contingent on passing of ASCP or equivalent within 18 months of hire. Ability to read, speak and write English effectively

Critical Demands of the Job

Physical ability to respond to emergency and patient care needs Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment, use computer terminals, draw blood specimens, perform laboratory tests, etc. Ability to be trained and oriented in all areas of the clinical laboratory as required

Ability to lift 20 pounds
