As the Royal Canadian Air Forces’ prime service provider at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, our team delivers comprehensive air operations, emergency services, logistics and engineering expertise to the Department of National Defence. We work on behalf of DND’s “no fail” mission at Goose Bay: supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD. 5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location. Currently, Serco Canada has over 1,200 employees across four provinces, including a strong and growing Indigenous workforce.

You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient services to DND. K EY R ESPONS IB ILITIES :

• Read and interpret specifications, scopes, sketches, or drawings todeterminethe layout of heating and ventilation system requirements. 

• Preparation of cost estimates for clients.  

• Ensure all work on Halocarboncontainingequipment is compliant with the Federal Halocarbon Regulations (FHR). 

• Responsible for the maintenance of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) compressors.  

• Assistother technicians/ staff in the operation, maintenance and repair of building HVAC systems, and related controls. 

• Document all information concerning the work performed, labor and materials used to complete assigned work. 

• Train HVAC/Refrigeration apprentices up to Journeyperson standard and endorseappropriate documentation. 

• Be available for on call standby duty after hours and weekends asrequired, according toregularly postedschedule.  

• Required to operate light duty vehicles, and other equipment necessary in the performance of assigned duties. 

• Participate in assigned training/certification to perform work of the contract. 

• May berequiredto work in remote and isolated sites. 

• Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time. 

• VisiblydemonstrateSerco Values and work practices while completing duties.

• Other related duties relevant to this position as may berequired.

• Comply withall regulations, policies and procedurespertaining tothe operations including occupational health and safety, environmental, drug and alcohol, andquality.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION S :

• Valid NL Journeyperson certificate in HVAC/Refrigeration Technician isrequired. 

• Possession of a valid NL Class 5 driver’s license isrequired. 

• Possession of or the ability to obtain an Ozone Depleting Substance Certificate.  

• Ability to obtain andmaintainan Enhanced Reliability security clearance isrequired. May berequiredto upgrade to Secret Level II (dependent upon customer’s security requirements). 

• Possession of or the ability to obtain andmaintaina Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification tooperatevehicles on the airfield isrequired. 

• Ability to obtain drivers abstract.

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test
