Air Education and Training Command Maintenance Worker in Goodfellow AFB, Texas

Summary This is a NAF position with the 17th Force Support Squadron, located at Angelo Inn on Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas.This position is considered Regular Part-Time (RPT). You are guaranteed 20 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours/week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. As a RPT employee, you are eligible to earn annual/sick leave and sign up for benefits, to include Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and NAF Retirement. Responsibilities Performs miscellaneous repairs, painting, minor tile work, simple carpentry, maintenance, and installation of guest rooms and the lodging facility. Performs repairs/replacements of only 120 volt light fixture, lamps, electrical outlets, light switches, equipment power plugs, power cords, hair dryers, as well as, tests, resets, and replaces GFI outlets. Accomplishes minor electrical work to comply with the National Electrical code standards. This is to include, telephone, television, and internet installation/replacement/hookups/maintenance. Preforms unclogging of small drains such as kitchen drains, bathroom sink drains, and toilets, tub/shower drains with a hand snake, zippit tool or plunger, to include but not limited to, minor repairs of plumbing leaks, replacement of water supply lines, and garbage disposal. Performs preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on commercial laundry equipment to include commercial washers and dryers, flatwork ironer, small piece folder, air compressors, hot cart heater, softer water system, and heat sealer, including but not limited to, housekeeping carts, housecleaning equipment, lawn service equipment, and room appliances. Performs ad documents the fire, life, safety monthly inspections and tests of fire extinguishers, exit lighting and emergency lighting systems. Operates a light van or pickup truck or ½ ton truck with hydraulic lifts to haul a variety of supplies, moving furniture from building to building and items necessary in the operation of the lodging activity. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have acquired progressive work experience where the applicant is able to apply knowledge, skills, and abilities appropriate for the position. The experience may have been gained in similar work: for example carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical etc. Knowledge and ability to inspect, repair, replace components and accessories on telephones, refrigerators vacuums, weed eaters, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. and satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Knowledge of standard surface preparation, coating, methods and techniques. Must read, write, and speak English and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to multi-task and use judgement in sequencing tasks. Knowledge in WI-FI connectivity and satellite TV systems required. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty, possess a valid driver's license, and satisfactorily complete a Tier-1 investigation. This is a drug tested designated position. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
