Google Quantum Measurement Engineer, Hardware, Quantum AI in Goleta, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in using software in any language to interface with hardware and to analyze data.

  • 2 years of experience in developing and executing hardware tests, and communicating results to other scientists and engineers.

  • 2 years of experience in qubit calibration and characterization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) components and electronics.

  • Experience with noise and error characterization protocols, such as randomized benchmarking.

  • Experience measuring superconducting qubits, especially to characterize other hardware.

  • Experience working in a collaborative software environment (e.g., version control, code review, style guides), especially in Python.

As a Quantum Measurement Engineer, you will own the measurement of qubit devices for testing critical hardware components, such as wiring and classical electronics. You will work with stakeholders to design tests against requirements, execute qubit measurements on both small and large quantum processors, and clearly communicate results to stakeholders. Additionally, you will improve our measurement and calibration infrastructure both by giving timely feedback to developers, and through the software contributions.

The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
