Select Genetics Service Shop Technician in Goldsboro, North Carolina

The purpose of this position is to oversee the daily maintenance and repair of the delivery fleet and shop equipment. The incumbent will perform minor repairs and manage the outsourcing process for major repairs, including coordinating with vendors to ensure efficient and effective servicing. 

Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight US States.  The following lists the essential duties and responsibilities for the Service Shop Technician.

 

  • Oversee maintenance and mission assignments for rolling stock equipment and local assets.

  • Ensure precise inventory management and tracking.

  • Manage maintenance and sanitation expenses effectively.

  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine service.

  • Perform minor repairs and upkeep on transportation equipment.

  • Order necessary parts and liaise with vendors for major repairs.

  • Collaborate effectively within a team, offering support in various areas as needed.

  • Organize and prioritize tasks to optimize operational efficiency.

  • Be prepared to work extended hours when required.

  • Coordinate with the team lead driver to schedule equipment and ensure DOT compliance.

  • Maintain equipment in accordance with DOT regulations.

  • Troubleshoot minor issues and manage outsourcing for significant repairs.

  • Work an extended workday, if needed.

  • Strong maintenance repair background

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record required; CDL is a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Capable of working independently and maintaining strong organizational skills.

  • HVAC knowledge is highly desirable.

  • General knowledge of electrical systems preferred.

  • General knowledge of mechanical systems preferred.

  • Experience with hand tools is preferred.

  • Familiarity with DOT compliance preferred.

  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, reach, grasp, push, and pull for extended periods. Limited climbing required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. over short distances.
