We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this
position, you will be responsible for traveling with maintenance-related supplies to dispersed equipment and performing on-site maintenance activities on all machinery and vehicles, from heavy-lift equipment to light duty trucks. Your duties will include monitoring inventory, inspecting vehicles, and performing preventative maintenance.
The role is planned for off-shift work. This can be flexible and can include nights and weekends. To succeed in this role, you should be physically and mentally fit and have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment. Our
ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Mechanic Responsibilities:
Communicate within our organization to coordinate and schedule PM activities in an efficient manner
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
Operate and inspect machines or vehicles to diagnose defects or functionality problems. Alert clients on issues that will prohibit their vehicles from passing inspection.
Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records, in written or electronic form
Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
Operate individually and within a team environment
Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures; perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions
Mechanic Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance scheduling
Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of journeyman level mechanic experience required
In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms
above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all
climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in
confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment
Valid drivers' license required.
Must pass a background and/or Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
Must pass a pre-employment drug test

Other potential qualifications:
Automotive Service Excellence Mechanics Certification (A.S.E Certification).
Experience working on and/or repairing Hydraulic systems on fleet vehicles.
Certification for Aerial Device Maintenance.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
