ABOUT THIS POSITION This position will lead a research team for new therapy and technology development of medical device solutions for treating obstructive sleep apnea and other unmet clinical needs. Provides scientific thought leadership on therapy outcomes. Interacts with medical and scientific communities. Identifies medical communication needs to establish clinical evidence for therapy adoption. OPPORTUNITIES YOU WILL HAVE IN THIS ROLE Leads & mentors a group of research scientists responsible for optimizing therapy response and expanding indications to upper airway stimulation for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea Provides scientific guidance for improving OSA therapy outcomes, such as conducting & analyzing pre-clinical and clinical feasibility studies Provides understanding of the impact of new OSA therapies and diagnostics and anticipates implications to near- and long-term plans Contributes to novel methods to improve therapy outcomes for obstructive sleep apnea treatment including patient selection, operative techniques and post-implant care Develops publication plan and strategy to expand clinical evidence of upper airway stimulation Contributes to peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations to expand therapy adoption Contributes to assessments of new therapy opportunities and leads research aspects of these efforts Protect intellectual properties by filing patent applications Participate in next generation product development efforts in partnership with new product planning, development, clinical operations, and regulatory teams Support training of new employees and new customers WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO OUR GREAT TEAM Required: Bachelor's degree Minimum of 10 years of related experience in the implanted medical device industry or sleep apnea research field Preferred: 12+ years of experience of the implanted neuromodulation therapy research 15+ years of related experience in the implanted medical device industry MS degree with 12+ years or PhD degree with 10+ years of related experience in implanted medical device industry and an MBA Inspire Medical Systems provides equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, status regarding public assistance, membership or activity in a local commission, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, and local laws.
