Eaton’s CTO Corporate Technology Office division is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist - Energy Management. The position is located in Golden Colorado and offers sponsorship & relocation assistance.

The Senior Engineering Specialist will report to Global Technology Manager.

The successful candidate will lead technology projects and other activities, including strategic business unit discussions/alignment, fostering academic and utility partner collaboration, and representing Eaton in public occasions such as conferences and working groups.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $130500.0 - $191400.0 a year.

Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist - Energy Management. The position is in Golden, Colorado and offers relocation assistance. Future work visa sponsorship will be considered for the candidates who are already in US.

This position will lead research and development in novel energy management, control, and optimization methods to address modern power grid issues with ever growing Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), electric vehicles (EVs), data centers, and smart loads. Key technology development will require advanced methods utilizing machine learning (ML), data-centric approaches, and artificial intelligence (AI) for energy transition at the distribution level. The Senior Engineering Specialist will report to Global Technology Manager.

What you’ll do:

In this role you will:

• Lead complex global technology realization programs and projects utilizing our internal project execution processes.

• Lead strategies on technology roadmaps for specific energy management applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall ERL and business strategies.

• Generate ideas for innovative energy management and control solutions including AI/ML and data-centric methods and lead funding proposals to support those ideas.

• Innovate, invent, and challenge state-of-art design and process by securing critical intellectual properties through patents and disclosures.

• Serve as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff, and consulting internal business and engineering partners.

• Investigate, integrate, and validate new product designs abiding by time-based milestones. Engage multiple business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, National labs, universities, and utility customers.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications :

• PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.

• 8+ years of industrial/entrepreneurial experience in researching, developing and designing technology solutions. Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality technological innovations.

• 3+ years of verifiable experience in leading technical projects as principal or co-principal investigator which includes leading technical team, managing technical deliverables, and project budget.

• Demonstrated strong experience in two or more of the following areas: DER management algorithm and software development, data center energy management, communication and data exchange protocols for power systems, AI/ML/data science-based energy management/controls, distributed controls, and integration of DERs/EVs for grid services.

• Must be able to relocate to Golden Colorado. Relocation assistance will be provided only for current US residents.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in leading large project teams as principal investigator.

• Experience in program management, new technology development & innovation process.

• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple research projects on energy management for DER and/or EV and/or data center.

• Experience in real-time energy management (e.g. SCADA/ADMS/DERMS) will be a plus.

• Experience in advanced data analytics and machine/reinforcement learning to address the emerging R&D challenges in modern power systems will be a plus.
