The Job in a Nutshell:

The Purchasing Business Systems Analyst II supports the department by designing, developing, and owning technical business process projects from conception through implementation. The position focuses on identifying and addressing business gaps with appropriate technical solutions, including identifying areas of improvement, gathering business requirements from end users and management, developing, piloting, troubleshooting, providing ongoing technical maintenance, and writing and updating solution documentation. Additionally, the position supports the department with ongoing reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

  1. Solution Design and Implementation:

    a. Analyze Purchasing processes and determine areas for improvement alongside Purchasing management team

    b. Ownership of all assigned projects from initial conception till completion

    c. Formulate, design, build, and test new solutions using available systems and software, primarily including Microsoft SQL Server, SAP Business Objects, and Microsoft Access

    d. Develop and maintain SQL database objects, including creating new objects as well as maintaining and updating legacy objects

    e. Build new Access-based tools, and maintain legacy files

    f. Tier 3 support for Purchasing tools and database systems

    g. Communicate and train solutions to end users

    h. Develop specifications, diagrams, flowcharts, and other appropriate documentation for new and existing solutions; maintain current documentation

    i. Ongoing training for department members on available tools and new processes as needed

    j. Assist with Purchasing and Enterprise projects as assigned

    k. Work with all SSC crew members as needed to accomplish cross-functional project goals

  2. Ongoing Department Support:

    a. Assist in training new hires as needed for all Purchasing teams

    b. Maintain a current understanding of all promotional, new store, and master data processes from both the user and technical back-end perspectives

    c. Ownership of any assigned ongoing business processes

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience required

  2. Advanced SQL skills and experience developing complex queries and stored procedures in one RDBMS (Primarily SQL Server) platforms required

  3. Minimum 2 years of experience developing solutions in a reporting suite such as SAP Business Objects, Power BI, Tableau, etc.

  4. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Access including database design and maintenance, form design, queries, and reporting

  5. Intermediate skill with VBA programming language

  6. Intermediate or better Microsoft Office experience, including Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, and Visio

  7. Retail industry corporate experience preferred

  8. Must be detail oriented with excellent organization skills

  9. Strong relationship building, influencing, communication, and follow-through skills

  10. Must be able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment

    11.Ability to work as part of a team and independently

  11. Comfortable collaborating with different work groups including, Purchasing, Accounting, Finance, Operations and Store Employees

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.

  • Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.

  • Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.

  • Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.

  • Must be able to frequently to reach above chest.

  • Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.

    Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.

  • Must be able to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress.
