FirstService Residential Maintenance Technician in Gold River, California
Job Overview:
The Maintenance Technician’s primary purpose is to provide excellent customer service, achieve maintenance objectives, aid in maintaining landscape initiatives, and perform ongoing custodial and maintenance functions to enhance and maintain company furniture, fixture and equipment assets.
Compensation: $28-32/hr
FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Your Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a high standard of quality and organization across the property, ensuring efficient processes and attention to detail. While the list below outlines typical responsibilities, it is not exhaustive, and duties may vary by position.
Property Maintenance and Upkeep:
- Maintain the general cleanliness and upkeep of the property, including grounds, amenities, building interiors and exteriors, parking lots, and other areas as directed.
- Execute landscaping initiatives to enhance appearance and functionality.
Event and Seasonal Setup/Breakdown:
- Assist with setup and breakdown for events, including arranging and dismantling tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment.
- Perform decorative installations and removals for seasonal and holiday events, ensuring timely execution and adherence to property standards.
- Clean and restore event areas to their original state post-event.
Customer Service and Communication:
- Report directly to the General Manager.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to associates, team members, clients, and residents.
- Address job assignments and work orders promptly, courteously, and in compliance with established procedures.
Safety and Inspection:
- Conduct routine safety walks and inspections of buildings, roofs, common areas, walkways, trees, and related property features.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the property.
Contract Management:
- Assist in the management and oversight of janitorial and landscaping contracts to maintain service quality.
Administrative Support and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs.
- Track inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies to ensure adequate stock.
- Prepare and organize documentation related to maintenance tasks and projects.
- Handle administrative tasks, including creating memos, letters, and meeting arrangements using Outlook and other tools.
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, property management software, and other relevant applications.
Accounting and Purchasing:
- Maintain accurate records of expenses related to maintenance and operations.
- Assist with purchasing tools, equipment, and supplies within the approved budget.
- Process and track invoices, purchase orders, and receipts to ensure timely and accurate accounting.
General Labor and Repairs:
- Perform tasks such as moving, maintaining, repairing, or installing furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Undertake minor maintenance duties, including light painting, lock changes, and light bulb replacements.
Cleaning and Maintenance Support:
- Clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment using appropriate products.
- Perform power washing, trash removal, and debris disposal to maintain cleanliness of the Clubhouse and surrounding areas.
- Ensure tools and supplies are securely stored and attended during use.
Equipment Operation:
- Operate hand and powered tools, including saws, drills, floor buffers, vacuums, carpet cleaners, and power washers, as needed for building and grounds maintenance.
Organization and Storage:
- Maintain shop and storage areas in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
Project Management:
- Assist with project scope development, implementation, and oversight for maintenance and construction initiatives.
- Support tasks such as identifying needs, obtaining board approvals, preparing specifications, managing bids, and processing payment authorizations.
Compliance and Professional Development:
- Attend all mandatory company functions and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Follow established quality system procedures and standards.
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational needs.
- This position requires a strong focus on maintaining high standards, efficiency, and attention to detail to support the overall quality and functionality of the property, including record-keeping, event execution, and financial accuracy.

- Proficient in English

- Must be able to work with tools and perform minor repairs.
- Must be timely with all activities, efficient and able to execute as instructed, while still being able to be flexible when appropriate to support business objectives.
- Ability to consistently review priorities and easily adapt to changed conditions or priority levels.
- An ability to follow verbal and written directions, keep accurate records, fill out logs and journals, and perform administrative operational functions.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of plumbing, wood finishing, painting, electricity, general installation, and carpentry.
- Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
- Strong ethical practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, reliable and hard working.
- Excellent general math skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, implement, and monitor progress for successful completion.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrates attention to detail.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2 years’ experience in customer service related industry.
- Previous experience in an office environment which included other associates/staff.
