About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Jacobs are seeking an Engineering Manager to support the Equipment Area Team. You will strive for simplification and clarity, driving the best decisions in support of the HPC project. Having the flexibility to work across diverse technical areas, including ones outside your usual area of expertise. You will be able to quickly pick up new topics and learn through doing, actively listening to the multi-disciplinary team and positioning yourself to maximise impact. They will provide clear technical and process guidance and advice on a diverse array of topics. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Provide a lead into equipment supply issues, particularly with a safety case focus and driving for an ALARP solution

  • Broader NCR closure strategy and support

  • Take ownership of technical challenges, develop a strategy and implement the solution through engagement with internal and external stakeholders

  • Deliver projects across a typical project lifecycle, including bidding, definition of requirements, design and implementation, into delivery of commissioned systems ready to support the needs of our clients

  • Support the Project Manager with respect to resourcing and financial elements, such as costs and schedule, and supporting change control and identification and control of technical risks

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant technical discipline (i.e. engineering, science, maths)

  • Broad experience in the nuclear industry including knowledge of nuclear safety cases

  • Experience across the project lifecycle which may include design, manufacture, construction/installation, commissioning and operations

  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing multidiscipline teams

  • Proven experience of engineering delivery within a nuclear or highly regulated environment

  • Ability to produce a project strategy to solve technical problems and take ownership of all the interfaces to implement the solution

  • Experience of executing project tasks against relevant codes, standards, and best practices

  • Knowledge of Project Management principles, experience of handling change control & making informed judgements to control or mitigate project risks
