CTL|Thompson, Inc. Structural Project Engineer in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

CTL|Thompson, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer for full-time employment with our Glenwood Springs, CO office. The Structural Project Engineer will work on structural engineering design and field inspections for commercial, residential, and municipal projects. The individual will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and designing structural engineering components of projects and preparation of project deliverables. The Structural Project Engineer will oversee drafting personnel for plan preparation and will work closely with senior structural engineering staff in other CTL|T office locations. Use of relevant software will be required to aid in analysis, design, and preparation of project deliverables.

Project Engineers are paid an annual salary between $70,000.00 and $95,000.00 plus discretionary bonuses. Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This individual will lead the structural engineering department of the Glenwood Springs Division of CTL|T.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design for residential, commercial, and municipal structures utilizing steel, timber and reinforced concrete.

  • Use relevant software to aid with project analysis and design.

  • Prepare and review and stamp recommendations, calculations, reports, and plans, including those produced by staff engineers.

  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors.

  • Provide construction project administration and oversight.

  • Attend project meetings.

  • Provide training, supervision, and mentoring for staff engineers.

  • Build and maintain client relationships.

  • Engage in business development activities.

  • Establish and grow the structural engineering department.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software in a timely manner.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent knowledge of current code requirements as appropriate for position.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft office.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Understanding of construction means and methods.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate and work well with a team.

  • Maturity and soundness of judgement in decision making and solving project-related problems and managing complex projects.

    Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil or related engineering field.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Current Professional Engineer license in the State of Colorado.

  • Licensure in other States as required.

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in an outside, field environment, as well as in an office setting. Regular work on computers while in the office. While working in the field, individual will potentially be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold, and heat. Routinely uses PPE, such as hard hats, safety glasses, and other safety equipment.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

  • Ability to walk around constructions sites with uneven and varying terrain.

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record in accordance with the company automobile insurance policy guidelines.
