BluePearl Veterinary Assistant - Surgery Relief in Glendale, Wisconsin
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Glendale, WI is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department!
Position: Veterinary Assistant with our Surgery Department
Work Schedule: Relief
Pay Range VA I/VAII: $18.45 - $27.35/hour
*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work, etc.), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:
Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
Understand classification ofcommonly usedmedications, associated sideeffectsand appropriatelymonitorstherapeutic response.
Administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.
Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment andassistwith patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines anddemonstratesproficiencyin designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
