Midwestern University LAC Scheduling Coordinator- AZ- Large Animal Clinic in Glendale, Arizona

Description

The LAC Scheduling Coordinator is a position at the Animal Health Institute’s Large Animal Clinic. This position will have duties coordinating activities of the clinicians in a way that maximizes the efficient use of faculty members and clinical students. The LAC Scheduling Coordinator will function as an integral member of the veterinary team. This position will report to the Director of the Large Animal Clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate appointments for animals onsite at the LAC and at client premises for ambulatory calls.

  • Help coordinate equipment that is shared between Equine and the Farm Animal services.

  • Schedule appointments for clinical faculty and technicians assigned to clinical duties.

  • Serve as a focal point for communication between the LAC and its clients.

  • Serve as an information resource for referring veterinarians requiring LAC clinical services

  • Provide telephonic customer service in a manner that builds relationships with LAC personnel, clients, and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate the scheduling of workspaces within the LAC to maximize patient care and workflow.

  • Maintain accurate case visit records to provide caseload statistics for reports as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned

General Knowledge

  • Know the range of services the LAC provides.

  • Be familiar with animal agriculture and the market for veterinary services.

  • Be familiar with basic veterinary service needs of large animals.

  • Recognize the need for scheduling emergency care of animals.

  • Know and use standard medical and business terminology

  • Use proper grammar and spelling when speaking and writing

  • Be familiar with terminology used by farm animal producers and other large animal owners.

  • Experience with horses and farm animals.

  • The ability to establish rapport with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of animal record-keeping and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to learn and use practice management software.

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED is required and 5 years' minimum experience working in an animal hospital or veterinary clinic setting OR CVT (must be certified in the State of Arizona) with a minimum of 2 years. Individuals with experience with horses and farm animals are preferred. Experience working in an animal care environment with a high focus on patient care and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment, be detail oriented, organized, and promote a welcoming atmosphere is essential.

Computer Skills The individual must have the ability to learn the StringSoft Veterinary management system, and have proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Occasionally assist in lifting patients weighing more than 40 pounds.
