Actalent Electrical & Automation Engineer in Glendale, Arizona

Job Title: Electrical and Automation EngineerJob Description

We are looking for an Electrical and Automation Engineer with Project Management skills to support our Glendale, AZ location. This position requires creativity, experience, and the ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts. It is an exciting opportunity for developing both technical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review URS User Requirement Specification and make necessary Electrical and Automation recommendations.

  • Develop scope of work and review bids accordingly.

  • Develop necessary timeline and schedule to keep track of milestones, parts ordered, and vendor commitments.

  • Review/Build electrical design using AUTOCAD.

  • Review/Create electrical schematics along with necessary electrical calculations and SISTEMA documentation.

  • Review/Build Pneumatic Designs needed for the projects.

  • Review/Build control design and MCC designs with vendors ensuring standards are followed.

  • Review/Create the BOM using electrical and Pneumatic schematics and keep track of materials delivery.

  • Review/Build Process control Descriptions (PCD) and Functional Design Specifications (FDS) for various equipment and machines.

  • Review/Create PLC tagging using document standards.

  • Review/Design PLC program in Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA, ensuring NEAT toolbox 7 programming standard is followed.

  • Create/Review Network Architecture and communication exchange signals between PLCS.

  • Create checklist for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).

  • Review/Build HMI screens using Wonderware Software.

  • Create a Simulation plan to review various functionality of SCADA like Recipe management, Product routes, CIP routes etc.

  • Work with vendors to ensure the HMI screens and SCADA controls are intuitive.

  • Work with cross-functional teams and develop action plans to facilitate EA objectives for the factory.

  • Recommend and drive actions to build smart and cohesive systems for seamless integration with other systems.

  • Streamline engineering processes by creating Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).

  • Provide support to process control and process monitoring equipment software design, commissioning, testing, and corrective action.

  • Integrate power switch gear automation components, transformers, and branch circuit protection with motors, valves, filters, and sensors into a high-quality system.

Essential Skills

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar STEM discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical, Controls/Automation, or mechatronics engineering roles.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in SCADA and HMI programming.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience programming and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks using Studio 5000.

  • CAD proficiency: AutoCAD or similar tools.

  • Expertise in drafting electrical schematics with power and control systems.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Windows and all Microsoft Office products.

  • Knowledge of industry standards like OSHA and UL requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Wonderware software experience is preferred.

  • Experience in the Food or Beverage industry is preferred.

Work Environment

Employee will work 100% on-site. Steel toe shoes are required. This position does not guarantee overtime, which will be minimal as needed.
