Description
We are in search of a diligent Sr. Tax Accountant to become part of our team in the Manufacturing industry, located in GLEN ALLEN, Virginia. In this role, you will be required to manage a variety of tasks such as processing tax-related transactions, maintaining records, and handling inquiries. You will also monitor accounts and take necessary action when required.
Position Overview
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing complex tax projects, preparing and reviewing tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and analyzing financial information for tax planning opportunities. This role involves working across departments, collaborating with clients, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation and Compliance:
Prepare, review, and file complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations, staying updated on changes in tax legislation.
Conduct tax research to address tax questions and resolve tax-related issues.
Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Tax Planning and Strategies:
Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients or the organization.
Provide recommendations for tax-effective structures for ventures, investments, and other activities.
Assist clients with financial forecasts, ensuring tax strategies align with revenue goals.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work with internal and external stakeholders to gather required documentation and information.
Serve as a consultant to provide clients with updates on tax policy changes and their implications.
Coordinate with other team members to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
Leadership and Mentoring:
Support junior accountants by providing training, mentorship, and technical expertise.
Review their work for accuracy and adherence to regulations.
Collaborate with management on improving internal tax processes and systems.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA certification highly preferred).
Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Taxation) or certifications (CFA, CMA, etc.) are a plus.
Experience:
4–7 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, codes, and regulations.
