We are an ambitious company in a sector that is currently seeing tremendous growth.We are looking for someone who is willing to get their hands dirty to understand all aspects of the organic waste diversion business. In this position, you will drive one of our non-CDL trucks to collect food scraps from our partner restaurants, schools, and businesses. At the end of the route, you will transport this material to a processing site where it will be made into nutrient-rich compost to enrich Virginia soils. This is a great opportunity for an organized, responsible, and driven person who is a self-starter and enjoys working independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect organic waste from Virginia businesses and deliver it to a composting facility.
  • Learn how to operate our trucks and how to handle, empty, and track the weight of collection carts.
  • Documenting and removing contamination from organic material as needed.
  • Driving and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • A valid Virginia driver's license and proof of good driving record
  • Ability to operate and maneuver large vehicles. CDL license not required.
  • Experience with minor maintenance on vehicles (safety inspection, checking fluid levels and tire conditions, etc.)
  • The ability to handle and move wheeled collection carts that can be heavy (300 lbs. +)
  • Comfortable handling food scraps and working outdoors in all weather conditions (strong stomach and work ethic required!).
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to problem-solve and ask for help when needed.
  • Experience or interest in composting, sustainability, recycling, or resource conservation
