City of Glasgow Recycle Truck Driver in Glasgow, Kentucky
Position Purpose
Under intermediate supervision, oversees the operations of curbside recycle program. Drives refuse packer on occasion. Lays out refuse (recyclable materials) collection routes.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Operates recycle/curbside truck.
Makes sure premises are left clean.
Ensures that collection schedule is maintained.
Oversees proper maintenance of recycle truck and cleaning.
Performs other related duties as required.
Inspects equipment for proper safety and ensures that truck is equipped with all necessary equipment for the day's assignment.
Qualifications
Training and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent (GED).
Special Requirement(s):
- Possession of a valid CDL Class B with air brakes License issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Safety-sensitive position is subject to passing a pre-employment drug screen test.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of operations of heavy trucks and other assigned equipment.
Ability to use a variety of tools and to perform a variety of street maintenance tasks in addition to recycling duties.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
Supervises approximately 1 to 2 unskilled workers in accordance with City policies and applicable laws.
