Programme Management Director – Regulated Environment (Water/Energy)
Job Description:
At AECOM, we understand that large programmes require the management, coordination and integration of multiple, concurrent projects. These include programs of critical national importance in defence, transport, water, clean energy, environmental clean-up, international development and disaster recovery, as well as the shaping of many of the world’s major cities.
As a Senior Director, you will have the opportunity pursue and deliver world-class programmes that create positive social and environmental outcomes, leading complex, multidisciplinary teams and working with key clients and stakeholders to achieve their goals.
The initial location for this role is flexible to support this key pursuit. However, relocation may be required upon programme award to Scotland OR the key post holder must be prepared to spend lots (likely circa.4 dpw on average) of time in the area.
Job Profile Summary:
Set the standard and be accountable for Health and Safety performance
Hold a leadership position on a programme of circa £1 bn / year which will require a high level of execution complexity and executive stakeholder management
Provide experienced leadership and strategic direction for program delivery
Be an influential and respected leader within an Enterprise executive management team.
Drive innovation in design and programme management approaches and methodology to achieve marketplace differentiation
Work with Global and Regional leadership to identify strategic new business opportunities and develop solutions to address them.
Identify areas of high risk and pro-actively take action to positively impact program outcomes.
Contribute to the global learning and people development strategy for programme management, including identification of talent and development of resourcing plans.
Assess long-term and disruptive trends in their area of expertise, proactively addressing emerging challenges and opportunities
Propose skill development approaches and workforce planning to deliver capabilities for the future
Actively lead and support the attraction and retention of top-tier talent within programme management.
Accountable for overall performance, including financial success and delivery of AECOM Program Management agreement

Excellent track record of driving high performance, achieving complex strategic objectives, and leading large organisations in the realm of capital infrastructure projects.
Ability to navigate complexity and drive innovation in programme management practices for capital projects in the Energy/Water Sector.
Industry recognition and substantial network demonstrate your influence and impact in the world of capital infrastructure programme management.
Commitment to fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture will empower your colleagues to excel and thrive.
Displays advanced proficiency in efficiently navigating complexity by adeptly managing and coordinating diverse stakeholder interests, intricate regulatory frameworks, technical challenges, organizational structures, and the array of risks and uncertainties linked to unforeseen events, regulatory changes, market conditions, and technological advancements.
Possesses high level of expertise in applicable technical areas or an aspect of program management in the construction sector (ideally end to end delivery, from business case to construction and operation).
Skilled in leading multiple programme phases including Day 1 strategic consulting services to formulate program plans, program initiation, design, and construction delivery and close out of programmes.
Ability to fully integrate into the Client’s business to guide, transform and execute and oversee the delivery of all projects within the programme.
Leadership
A proven senior leader in large to very large organizations, with a track record of driving high performance, organizational success and achieving complex strategic objectives.
Leads the development and dissemination of best practice approaches, positioning the organization as a leader in program management.
Inspires and guides program teams with a strong vision, clear direction, and effective guidance to achieve objectives.
Fosters a collaborative, high-performing, and transformative team culture.
Contributes to the field of Program Management through thought leadership, publications, conference presentations, and involvement in professional associations.
Maintains an up-to-date understanding of current trends in Program Management
Gravitas to deliver innovation
Experience leading major government and/or semi-government international programs and projects with a proven track record of delivering project excellence in direct project manager role.
Experience of direct oversight of the following functions: engineering, project controls contracts, procurement, health, safety, security & environmental, risk management, financial management, quality assurance and quality control
Record of engagement with a wide range of utility providers and commercial and public sector stakeholders
Proven track record of instituting continuous improvement and of supporting capacity building / talent development
Qualifications
Ideally degree qualified (BEng/BA/BS or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as architecture, engineering, or project management, although applications with relevant diplomas and a suitable level of professional experience may also be considered.
Specific demonstrated experience in project and program management, PMP, APM or membership of a recognized professional institution preferred
Membership of a Chartered Institution (MICE/ MCIOB/ MRICS) preferred.
