Exciting Opportunity for a Global Trade Compliance Specialist.

As a Global Trade Compliance Specialist, you will provide support to the Head of Global Trade Compliance to ensure Chart conducts business across our global organisation in full compliance with required national and international laws and regulation, professional standards, accepted and ethical business practices and relevant internal policies and procedures. As part of the Global Trade Compliance team, to support the customs activities across Chart businesses, driving trade compliance strategy and processes, seeking opportunities for duty and cost optimisation, and enhancing organisational capability in managing import and export trade compliance. Also, provide support to the Head of Global Trade Compliance to manage the global corporate compliance programme across Chart to ensure integrity in our business dealings and that we operate in a legal, fair and ethical manner.

What We Need You to do

  • Support the Head of Global Trade Compliance to drive and manage Chart’s International Trade Compliance programme globally, implementing trade compliance policies and procedures.

  • Provide support to Chart business units on aligning with local and international trade requirements, including internal and external regulations related to import/export control and customs issues in UK and EU. Experience of US laws is also desirable.

  • Support high level internal risk assessment review program associated with cross-border business activities relating to export controls, export licensing and sanctions and controls relating UK and EU. Experience of US laws is also desirable.

  • Provide guidance and support on product classification for both harmonized tariff and ECCN, Export Control Classification Numbers for UK and EU. Where necessary provide support in UK/EU Export Licence applications. Knowledge of US laws preferable.

  • Engage in the Chart RPS Restricted Party Screening Program Globally.

  • Support the daily management of the RPS program and management of ‘potential matches’.

  • Provide user profile management and support.

  • Help drive the roll out of the screening program globally within Chart.

  • Support projects for Global Trade Compliance as necessary.

  • Provide support to deliver periodic training related to all relevant compliance requirements across the Chart business to ensure associates understand the company’s policies and procedures as well as relevant laws, regulations, and external controls.

  • Monitor changes to laws, regulations, and requirements globally and guide and support impacted business units with implementing any necessary changes.

To be successful you must have …

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Degree in relevant area or equivalent professional qualifications or experience in trade compliance

  • Experience in handling UK, EU international trade issues, understanding of relevant import/export regulations and controls, customs activities and other relevant trade laws and regulations. US knowledge also preferred.

  • Knowledge of UK, EU and US Sanctions and export controls,

  • Experience of RSP Restricted Party Screening program preferred.

  • Experience of product classification both Harmonised tariff codes and ECCN Export Control Classification

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the business.
