Pierce County Recycling, Composting and Disposal dba LRI, a Waste Connections company is looking for a Transfer Station and Compost Operations Manager to join their team in Gig Harbor, WA!

A Day in the Life of Purdy's Transfer Station and Compost Operations Manager:

  • Oversees personnel needs of the site including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

  • Scheduling employees and equipment to facilitate task completion.

  • Scheduling third party contractors to complete facility projects.

  • Assists in monitoring budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.

  • Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with the company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations, including Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

  • Formulates both short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the District Manager.

  • Participates in regular P&L reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.

  • Interacts with customers and the County to ensure customer satisfaction and improve efficiency.

  • Interacts with State and local agencies to insure efficient and effective compliance with rules and regulations.

  • Within one year of starting attend - Compost Facility Operator Training (CFOT or COTC) to learn compost facility operations.

Must Have:

  • Previous supervisory experience in the solid waste industry.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience suggested.

  • Strong financial skills, including managing P&L, budget, and forecast.

  • Experience working outdoors in all-weather types.

  • Must be willing to relocate for growth opportunities in the future.

  • Ability to communicate in English required.

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 Annually

Bonus: 0-10%
