CAR-T is an innovative treatment, which uses the power of the patient’s own immune system. A patient’s T-cells are genetically modified to eliminate cancer cells. This ground-breaking, innovative technology provides hopeful prospects to patients where other therapies have failed or fail to provide adequate results.

To support the CAR-T program in EMEA, J&J is building two CAR-T manufacturing centers in the Ghent area. A growing team of passionate talent is implementing the new sites, developing, and refining all tools, processes and procedures that ensure a highly reliable, safe, and efficient production process. J&J entered this platform in a global, strategic partnership with Legend Biotech.

This position will be supporting the warehouse activities of the two new manufacturing facilities (Obelisc & Tech Lane) in the leading Biotechnology Hub of Ghent, Belgium. You will have the unique opportunity to work in a highly innovative and future oriented environment with the ability to profoundly impact the trajectory of health of our patients.

Role and responsibilities:

The Logistics Operations Lead will be responsible for the warehouses as part of our two facilities (Obelisc & Tech Lane) which support the material flows of the sterile GMP manufacturing process and distributes the finalized drug product treatment back to the patient, and an external patient overflow warehouse. This will include following responsibilities:

  • You will lead a combined Operate and Built team which focuses on day-to-day operational oversight, continuous improvement and ramp-up of the existing internal and external warehouses, but which is also involved in significant logistic transformational or expansion projects.

  • You will partner with the J&J Car-T Operations team to make sure that both departments remain aligned with the abovementioned projects

  • You will further build the strategic vision of the logistic activities within the Car-T EMEA supply chain and optimize operational ownership, roles and responsibilities with the various stakeholders in our internal supply chain as well as the larger J&J IMSC supply chain. You will ensure that logistic knowledge will be embedded within the Car-T EMEA network

  • You will build a sustainable partnership with Legend Biotech's warehousing department and develop an appropriate governance structure to monitor the daily operational performance. You are continuously on the lookout to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

  • You will participate in operational governance meetings (QIP, change control boards, Monthly Business Review meetings) and be responsible for budget management of external warehouse sites

  • You will support the lean design and implementation of the Warehouse IT system (SAP, MES, S/4, eLims…) including future releases to continuously enhance performance and compliance.

  • Our patients are at the center of everything you do. You will install a mindset of high safety and quality compliance standards, will be prepared at all times for audit or inspection readiness and will drive solutions for quality investigations and related CAPA’s.
