Job Overview :

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations of the food manufacturing facility, ensuring all equipment, machinery, and systems are operating at peak efficiency. This role involves leading a team of maintenance technicians, managing preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with all safety, health, and regulatory standards specific to the food manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Supervision & Leadership :

  2. Lead, coach, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring effective performance and skill development.

  3. Assign and prioritize daily tasks to maintenance staff and ensure completion within established timeframes.

  4. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and foster a collaborative work environment.

  5. Maintenance Planning & Execution :

  6. Develop, implement, and manage the preventive maintenance (PM) program for all production equipment and facility infrastructure.

  7. Schedule and coordinate both planned and emergency maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.

  8. Perform hands-on maintenance tasks and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems as needed.

  9. Oversee repair and maintenance of production machinery, conveyors, refrigeration systems, boilers, HVAC, and other critical systems.

  10. Equipment & Facility Management :

  11. Ensure all machinery and equipment are in good working condition, conducting regular inspections and assessments.

  12. Collaborate with production managers to identify and resolve equipment issues that impact production efficiency and quality.

  13. Ensure maintenance activities meet or exceed food safety standards, following industry best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OSHA, GMP, HACCP).

  14. Inventory & Budget Management :

  15. Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance tasks.

  16. Work within the maintenance budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.

  17. Recommend purchasing needs for replacement parts and tools.

  18. Safety & Compliance :

  19. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workplace, specifically for food manufacturing operations.

  20. Promote a safety-first culture by conducting regular safety meetings, inspections, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

  21. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food safety regulations and ensure all maintenance practices comply.

  22. Documentation & Reporting :

  23. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment repairs in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

  24. Prepare reports on maintenance activities, downtime analysis, and equipment performance for upper management.

  25. Assist in the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance activities.

Qualifications :

  • Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role within a food manufacturing or similar industrial environment; at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Technical Skills :

  • Strong understanding of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and CMMS software.

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, OSHA, GMP, HACCP, and other industry standards.

  • Skills :

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

  • Certifications : Relevant certifications (e.g., mechanical or electrical certifications) a plus.

Physical Demands :

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs).

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including cold environments typical of food processing areas.

Work Environment :

  • Food manufacturing plant, with exposure to equipment noise, machinery, and production lines.

  • Safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times.

Hours: 3rd shift

Pay Details: $85.00 to $90.00 per year
