Description:

Reporting to the Director of Surgery, the Operating Room Assistant assists in stocking operating rooms, picking cases, turning over rooms and additional assignments by the charge nurse.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs patient care for the surgical patient in the preoperative and intraoperative setting

  • Transports surgical patients from in-house patient care areas to the Operating Room or OR Holding Area prior to surgery.

  • Obtains all appropriate preoperative documentation including patient’s chart and test results (ex., x-rays) for transport to the OR.

  • Uses aseptic technique during case preparation and through surgical procedure activity

What you will need

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Certification as a nursing assistant by the Maryland State Board of Nursing

  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language; Visual accuracy; Auditory acuity

  • Basic computer skills, to include data entry and retrieval

Pay Range: $17.58 – $23.85

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
