Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may behybridorremote.

    What does it take to be successful in this role?

    • Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial reporting requirements

    • Extensive knowledge of Workiva and all related tools

    • Solid understanding of SAP FICO module and its integration with other modules

    • Knowledgeable in systems project management practices and processes

    • Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with Aflac’s senior management, internal and external business contacts.

    • Ability to exhibit and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel

    • Proficient in SAP/BPC

    • Demonstrated experience in the implementation and upgrading of financial accounting systems including testing

    • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience in training and supporting endusers

    Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Eight years of professional job-related work experience

  • Proven experience as a Workiva or SAP Consultant or in a similar role, with a strong focus on financial reporting

  • Experience with building reports and analyzing data in Workiva

  • Experience with SAP FICO

    Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    Education & Experience Preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

  • Experience with Workiva Wdata and connected sheets

  • Experience in the insurance industry

  • Experience with SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and BEx queries, SAP Analytics Cloud or Microsoft Power BI, and SAP Change Request Management (ChaRM)

  • Experience with SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) or SAP Group Reporting and a solid understanding of financial consolidation tools and practices

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities

    • May create, upload and maintain financial reporting datasets that feed related Workiva reports

    • May maintain all financial data and links within Workiva that feed financial reports (10-K/Q, earnings release, financial analysts briefing, etc.)

    • Analyzes financial data and processes to identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements within SAP or Workiva.

    • Provides technical support and training to users on SAP Financial Modules and reporting tools or Workiva tools and new Workiva enhancements as needed.

    • Collaborates with the financial reporting team and other teams in the Finance division to understand their reporting needs, translating business requirements into functional specifications for SAP or Workiva configuration.

    • Manages SAP or Workiva projects related to financial reporting, including planning, testing, and deployment of new functionalities.

    • May assist with the GL account master data creation process and financial statement version (FSV) required maintenance tasks.

    • May liaise with IT to address system issues, updates, and upgrades, minimizing downtime and business disruption.

    • Participates in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards.

    • Stays abreast of the latest SAP or Workiva technologies and tools, as well as new financial reporting standards, making recommendations for improvements and training the team on new features and best practices.

    • Oversees the accuracy and completeness of financial data within SAP or Workiva.

    • Serves as the primary contact for troubleshooting and resolving SAP or Workiva related issues impacting financial reporting.

    • Performs data validation tasks for consolidated and unconsolidated data to ensure accuracy in financial reports.

    • Ensures compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures in the financial reporting process.

    • Develops and maintains financial reports, schedules, key performance indicators, etc., ensuring that they meet the company’s internal and external reporting requirements.

    • Assists with developing SOX control documentation to support the control environment.

    • Assists with reviewing/preparing complex financial reporting calculations and reports.

    • Remains current on all technological aspects necessary to produce and support financial and analytical reports; consults and works effectively with the Information Technology department regarding current and future technology needs to develop and implement new applications and analytical models or to enhance existing systems and ensure successful and effective interfacing between systems.

    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with business partners; stays abreast of current trends and regulatory changes in the industry and recommends alternative business practices, procedures, solutions, and strategies based upon best practice research.

    • May serve as a SME on all Workiva related reports and tools; shares expertise by providing direction and training to other team members.

    • May serve as a SME on key operational and financial reporting aspects of accounting and shares expertise by providing direction and training to other team members.

    • Performs other related duties as required.

    This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $167,000.
