Job Title: CAE Engineer

Job Description

Our Client’s Production Engineering Paint Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated VWF Engineer to design bumper/body jigs for the painting processes. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that safety, quality, productivity, and cost all meet design targets. Reporting to the SE Manager, this role will support the Paint department's objective to develop bumper jigs and study resin structure for all new vehicle models.

Responsibilities

  • Visit suppliers and NAMCs to manage jig quality, budget, and feedback from manufacturing sites for bumper jig design and development.

  • Utilize CAE programs to improve jig design and cleaning processes, incorporating our client's manufacturing principles.

  • Ensure parts meet all standards and provide feedback to design groups.

  • Generate reports showing resin parts structure and jigs meet all quality, productivity, and cost criteria.

  • Collaborate with several PE and external groups to gain a unified voice for programming requirements.

  • Conduct on-line trials on the production floor to confirm actual results versus planned.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline

  • 1+ year experience in plastics/paint or related field

  • High-level experience and knowledge of CAE

  • Experience developing and designing weld check fixtures

  • Proficiency with CATIA and Hypermesh CAE simulation software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to travel within North America including Mexico and Canada

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with rapid prototyping and check fixture design

  • Experience working with suppliers to maintain project schedule, budget, and quality milestones

Work Environment

Preferred 3D modeling software is CATIA. Standard working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM. This is an onsite role with no travel required. The company offers a flexible schedule and work/life balance. The company provides 10 PTO days and 9 paid holidays per calendar year, and any hours worked over 40 are compensated at time and a half.
