As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead project teams consisting of Operations, Technology, Design, EHS, and Procurement personnel to ensure the safe and effective implementation of plant expansion, process debottlenecking, and infrastructure improvement projects. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your entrepreneurial drive and collaboration skills. This position will be within the site engineering group and may provide support across the plant in various businesses.

As a Sr Project Engineer, you create chemistry by...

  • Leading project teams in development of project scopes, generating cost estimates, and preparing funding requests as well as demonstrating your commitment to compliance and safety as you seek compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.

  • Engaging team members across the organization, you will develop and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, construction, startup and commissioning, and then final documentation and closure.

  • Requesting and coordinating required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site, corporate groups or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services and utilizing strong computer skills and attention to detail as you maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

  • Working with Procurement and complying with applicable guidelines, you will perform procurement activities as required, including preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing with vendors.

  • Communicating effectively, you will request necessary construction and commissioning resources from Construction and others as required to install the scope of work as well as ensuring project are closed per guidelines, and ensuring proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements.

  • Relying on any project engineering or project management experience you may have, you will monitor and support construction activities to ensure that projects are completed according to the design deliverables, quality standards, and plant requirements, and that pre-startup safety reviews are conducted. You will also follow up to ensure that Operations achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-related action items are completed.

If you...

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Chemical Engineering)

  • Posses at least 5+ years of professional experience managing all phases of capital projects in a chemical / petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of SAP software is a plus
