Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Rotating Equipment Engineer, under a focused program on fast-track development for a technical career supporting key rotating equipment technology in operations around the world.
The starting location will be Houston, Texas, for approximately 12 months within the downtown office and Pasadena, Texas refinery. The role will then transition to a 3-year support assignment in one of Chevron’s large domestic refineries, followed by domestic or international opportunities supporting rotating equipment facilities or projects.
Rotating Equipment engineers support the following equipment types in refineries, power generation facilities, and numerous upstream facilities across the globe.
- Gas turbine drivers
- Steam turbine drivers
- Centrifugal compressors
- Positive displacement compressors
- Multiple types of pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement)
- Gears (special and general purpose)
Support systems (pump and compressor wet and dry gas seals, compressor and/or gas turbine controls, vibration monitoring systems, and lubrication skids/systems)
*Within these equipment types, support can include: *
On-site support: Assisting with field startup, performing troubleshooting, mechanical and thermodynamic performance analysis, using and implementing digital solutions, leading failure analysis, repair/replace/upgrade technical support and reviews, and deploying industry leading technologies to reduce carbon, increase efficiency and maximize returns.
- Major Capital Projects: Project concept development, scoping, equipment selection, application evaluation, supplier selection, writing specifications, performing bid analysis, designing equipment, facilitating testing, and assisting with field startup.
Research and Design: Developing and/or deploying industry leading technologies to reduce carbon, increase efficiency and maximize returns.
*Required Qualifications: *
Students completing the last year of the requirements for their master’s degree in mechanical engineering, with a focus on machinery or rotating equipment; or individuals with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering with two years or less directly related work experience.
- Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Position may require driving on a routine basis.
