Galvion Plant Controller in Gdansk, Poland

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES

The Plant Controller is responsible for the preparation of financial reporting of the facility in Poland adhering to local accounting standards. The Plant Controller plays an active role in the internal control structure. The Plant Controller participates in the year-end audits and supervises local staff in recording and maintaining accounting records.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People:

  • Collaborate with the finance team in maintaining general ledger records and files.

Process:

  • Responsible for month-end close for the Gdansk site by preparing schedules, journal entries and eliminations and by ensuring the month-end tasks are performed according to the corporate timelines.

  • Responsible for balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting schedules

  • Ensure internal controls are respected.

  • Assist with year-end audits.

  • Preparation and analyze monthly, annual, and other periodic financial and tax statements and reports.

  • Perform other financial, accounting or administrative tasks as required based on the local legal regulations

Performance:

  • Drive process improvement and system implementation efforts to streamline operations and improve the quality of the close process and internal controls

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting including management of the chart of accounts.

  • Responsible for managing the relationship with the local bank and ensure cash is properly managed.

  • Oversee and ensure execution of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately, timely and completely.

  • Ensure that accounting plans, goals, and policies are consistent with local governmental regulations and align with established company-wide policies and procedures.

  • Identify the organization's strategic, operational, financial and compliance risk areas.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for local Polish business entity and support companywide audits as applicable.

  • Responsible for local tax filings and interface with local authorities as necessary.

  • Serve as a member of the Gdansk Operations leadership team and actively work to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.

Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business

6-9+ years' experience in accounting or finance required, in a manufacturing environment a must.

Excellent practical knowledge of the local legal regulations related with tax (VAT, CIT) and transfer prices

Finalising the 2nd level courses of the Polish Accuntants Assotiation

Strong knowledge of ERP systems, Visual and/or Syteline, a plus.

Ability to read and understand contracts.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Excel (advanced) Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Polish and English.

Excellent time management, project management and planning skills required.

Attention to detail.

Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Ability to multi-task and work with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.

Energetic, passionate and positive can-do attitude a must.
