DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Onsite Lead Technician (Mogalakwena Site) to join our team specializing in Service for our Distribution Business Unit in Gauteng, South Africa. The successful candidate will be based in Mogalakwena Platinum Mine, in Mokopane, Limpopo.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Technical Expertise: Act as the primary technical specialist, independently diagnosing and completing repairs on-site, ensuring minimal downtime for customer products.
Customer Relations: Maintain productive relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are promptly and efficiently addressed.
Coaching and Mentoring: Provide guidance on preventative maintenance and repairs, offering work direction and reviewing repair plans for less experienced technicians.
Inventory Management: Manage parts and spares inventory at the work site, ensuring availability and proper usage.
Issue Escalation: Escalate unresolved technical issues to product specialists or supervisors for timely resolution.
Documentation: Complete necessary documentation accurately, including service worksheets, timesheets, and warranty claims.
Sales and Service Opportunities: Identify additional sales and service opportunities with customers, contributing to business growth.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies, reporting any issues to site management and supervisors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Strong Diagnostic Skills: Ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans, using specialized tools and software to isolate and resolve issues, and documenting the process for accurate tracking and payment.
Understanding of Engine Systems: Proficiency in interpreting and analysing the interactions of various electrical and mechanical systems, using service publications and measurement tools to diagnose and repair efficiently.
Product Repair and Maintenance Expertise: Capability to repair and maintain mechanical/electrical products within standard repair times, ensuring quality and minimizing customer costs by following guidelines and using the required tools.
Effective Service Documentation: Skill in creating and verifying customer and technical information, capturing specific data, and following procedures to document work accurately in the service management system.
Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and adherence to QuickServe Online (QSOL) standards. This includes achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) like Mean Time to Failure (MTTF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Availability.
Efficiency and Accuracy: High First-Time Fix Rate (FTFR) and minimal Total Time to Repair (TTR) are crucial. This means resolving issues on the first visit and completing repairs promptly.
Safety and Compliance: Strict adherence to safety standards while onsite is essential to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness and ability to rotate across mine sites and adapt to different working conditions and challenges.
Key Responsibilities, KPIs and/ or Expectations for the Role:
Ensure Timely HSE Compliance, Establish an Injury-Free Workplace, and Achieve a Zero Percent Incident Rate on the mine site.
Attain 100% Profitability and the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for the site.
Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) and keep aged Work-In-Progress (WIP) to a minimum of below 30 days.
Attain 100% of the Delivery-to-Promise (DTP) on services and unplanned repairs.
Ensure QuickServe Process Adherence for Repairs and Services by All Technicians Onsite, Including the Utilization of Cummins Standard Tools as Defined on QuickServe Online (QSOL)
QuickServe Playbook and E-job Card Roll-out
Establish and Maintain Collaborative Problem-Solving Relationships with MRC Product Quality, Technical Service Support Specialists (TSSS), Warehouse Operations, and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
Process, Forms, Procedures, and Systems Standardization
Training and Developmental Areas for Tech Leads (Schedule identified training for development areas for site technicians; Monitor and track progress of technicians in their training and development; Provide feedback and support to technicians to improve their soft and technical skills and knowledge).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
Apprentice Certified Power Generation and/or Engine Technician
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution (Preferred)
Cummins High Horse Power (HHP) product knowledge, and certification is required
Locally valid driving permit
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Significant field service and/ or HHP re-manufacturing work experience is required
Customer-facing experience (Preferred)
Extensive knowledge of power generation and/or engine products
Basic understanding of competitors and typical industry practices
High Voltage/ Low Voltage practical experience (optional)
