Robert Half Cable Technician in Garland, Texas

Description We are looking for a meticulous Cable Technician to join our team in Garland, Texas. As a Cable Technician, you will be involved in the installation and wiring of public safety equipment in police and public works vehicles. You will be part of a dedicated team within the non-profit industry, where your skills in low voltage cabling and cable installation will be crucial in maintaining accurate records and ensuring high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Install and wire a variety of public safety equipment in police and public works vehicles.

• Conduct the removal of equipment from vehicles being turned in, ensuring all components are properly removed and accounted for.

• Perform complete wiring of installed equipment, ensuring all connections are secure, insulated, and meet safety standards.

• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment to fabricate and install mounting brackets, run wiring, and secure equipment in place.

• Troubleshoot issues with electrical systems and installed equipment, making necessary adjustments or repairs.

• Inspect completed installations to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Perform testing to verify the functionality of all installed systems.

• Maintain detailed records of installations, including wiring diagrams, parts used, and any modifications made to the vehicle.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

• Work closely with the installation team, project managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate installation schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.

• Communicate with law enforcement, public safety, and public works personnel to understand their equipment needs and preferences. Provide training or instructions on the use of installed systems as needed. Requirements • Demonstrated experience in Low Voltage Cabling is required

• Proven ability to install a variety of cable types

• Familiarity with industry standard tools and equipment

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Willingness to adhere to all safety procedures and regulations

• Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces

• Availability to work outside normal business hours when necessary

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required
