JOB SUMMARY:

The School of Education of the Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences at Adelphi University invites qualified candidates to apply for a full time Clinical Assistant Professor position in our distance education programs in Art Education and Educational Theatre to begin at the start of the Fall 2024 semester – August 28, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach 18 credits annually, including remote supervision of student teachers and TPA (Teacher Performance Assessment) support in Art Education and/or Educational Theatre (the teaching cycle begins in the Fall and includes the following Spring and Summer). Teaching during the Summer is not required but is an option.

  • Teach and design online, asynchronous field-intensive graduate classes in Art Education and Educational Theatre as well as other required courses and arts–based electives.

  • Support New York, regional, and national accreditation efforts.

  • Hold a minimum of 4 scheduled online office hours on a minimum of 3 separate days.

  • Provide academic advisement to approximately 20-30 graduate Art Education and/or Educational Theatre majors.

  • Faculty responsibilities also include service to the school, university, and community.

  • Actively participate in Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Studies and University committees and contribute to Adelphi University's mission and strategic plan.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master’s degree in Art Education or Educational Theatre.

  • NYS or equivalent certification in Art Education and/or Theatre Education.

  • Experience in designing and teaching asynchronous educational curriculum.

  • Extensive current practical experience in Art Education and/or Educational Theatre, including acting/directing experience in the latter.

  • Familiarity with CAEP accreditation requirements, such as the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA).

  • Comfort level with appropriate technological skills, such as video creation, digital uploads and recordings, and videoconferencing required.

    SALARY INFORMATION:

    In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $78,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
