Position Summary Information
General Summary
TheMaterials Planner Ioperates and maintains a satellite warehouse, stock room(s) and/or store yard; manages the inventory program at these locations.
Essential Functions
Maintains adequate stocking levels based on usage reports, demand and communication with depot supervisors;
Orders, receives and stocks materials from outside vendors and transfer orders;
Orders and receives materials, verifying quantity and quality of supplies received;
Discusses discrepancies with the Section Manager, Acquisitions Group personnel, Material Planner III’s and the main warehouse as necessary;
Communicates any T-Order and Move Order discrepancies in a timely fashion to Materials Distribution Section Manager, Anacostia Warehouse Supervisor, and Anacostia Warehouse personnel;
Ensures timely closure of all Move Orders and T-Orders;
Ensures timely completion of invoicing and consumption of all Aggregate materials ordered from suppliers;
Communicates with local maintenance or operational personnel to maintain supply continuity;
Ensures the inventory accuracy through physical inventory counts, tracking transactions and ensures accounting policies and standards are adhered to;
Maintains well marked and labeled storage areas including bin location and stock numbers;
Issues materials to WSSC Water employees and customers, completes forms and maintains accurate records of all inventory transactions;
Operates a personal computer utilizing an inventory control system;
Compiles data for reports, participating in inventories and maintaining inventory data, logs and registers;
Ensures orderliness of warehouse and store yard area;
Operates a variety of powered and non-powered warehouse equipment such as: forklifts, trucks, frontend loader, stretch wrappers, handcarts and dollies;
Operates WSSC Water vehicles; provides coverage at other WSSC Water locations when needed;
Monitors the distribution of Fire Hydrant Meters to external customers and ensures all logbooks and permits are accounted for;
Drives a vehicle to conduct WSSC Water business.
Other Functions
Maintains on hand quantity of rental water meters, issues and receives water meters, including rental payments from customers;
Trains personnel in the operation of routine or specific warehousing functions.
Monitors and tags movable assets in area for designated items;
Works with Yard Coordinator to ensure Scrap Metal bin is emptied when necessary;
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Industrial warehouse and store yard
Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of contemporary methods, techniques and practices of inventory management and control and warehouse practices/procedures;
Skill in operating MS-office software,
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
Strong customer service skills.
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent;
3 years of responsible inventory control experience.
Additional Requirements
Possession of a valid driver’s license, with no more than 4 points, and the ability to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver’s permit within 90 days of hire or transfer date;
Employees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel; therefore, the employee must report to work as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor when WSSC Water declares an event that requires emergency personnel to report to work.
Preferences
Familiarity with supplies used to maintain a metropolitan water and waste water system, including pipes, valves, fittings and aggregate materials.
Salary$25.76 - $43.80 per hour
