Boehringer Ingelheim Principal Engineer, Automation in Gainesville, Georgia

DESCRIPTION:

This position has the responsibility of providing advanced design, troubleshooting support and advancement of site automation technologies including production equipment and building automation. This position will provide design, programming and troubleshooting support of automated controls to plant services department for plant engineering, construction and maintenance work. This position will also manage capital and expense projects and implement modifications to existing systems. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage capital and expense projects ensuring sustainable growth of site automation technologies.

This position is expected to interact with automation daily, including PLCs, HMI/SCADAs, Building Automation, Machine Vision Systems and Robotics. An understanding of the hardware and software of these systems is required.

Maintain building automation system including lifecycle management, modification and troubleshooting in compliance with BIAH SOPs and current industry standards.

Research and evaluate potential automation projects to determine feasibility. Provide data and proposals to management to guide site investment strategy. Develop and implement site automation improvement initiatives.

Act as automation and controls subject matter expert on large capital projects.

Support day to day site automation and controls needs, minimizing production loss. Produce and implement CAPA plans to prevent future occurrences. Lead root cause analysis initiatives as related to automation topics.

Research new technologies, gain competency and train others after implementation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Relevant Bachelor or Associate degree Computer Science, Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college is preferred and four (4) years of professional experience.

With relevant associate degree, a minimum of six (6) years in engineering or similar discipline

With a HS degree/GED, a minimum of eight (8) years’ of relevant experience in engineering or similar discipline

Understanding of low voltage controls (relays, safety circuits, drives, etc.)

Understanding of devices and interface technologies (sensors, IO modules, fieldbus and networking)

Understanding of basic mechanical design methods and techniques

Understanding of PLC programming including ladder, function block and structured text. RSLogix experience is preferred.

Understanding of building automation systems. Siemens Insight or Desigo experience is preferred.

Understanding of HMIs/SCADAs. FactoryTalkView experience is preferred.

Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing in a cross functional team.

Good project management and organizational skills.

Eligibility Requirements:
