Job Description:

The University of Florida's Upward Bound Math & Science Program is seeking a highly motivated and experienced teacher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching high school mathematics, laboratory science, language arts, social studies, or ACT preparation to high school students.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach high school mathematics (through calculus), laboratory science (through physics), language arts (through 12th grade), social studies, or ACT preparation.

  • Develop students’ proficiency in math, science, and reading through interactive and engaging instruction.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including cooperative learning and technology-based instruction.

  • Support students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Expected Salary:

$25-$28/hour

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, math, science, English, or a related field.

  • Experience working with high school students.

  • Must be available on Saturdays during the academic year, and for the Summer STEM Institute.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.

  • Experience teaching in a pre-college program.

  • Experience incorporating hands-on and inquiry-based learning.

  • Familiarity with standardized test preparation (ACT/SAT).

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a part-time position. Availability on Saturdays during the academic year, and for the Summer STEM Institute, is required.
