Job Description:

The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a joint full-time clinical track Assistant or Associate Professor in our Anesthesia and Pain Management and Zoological Medicine Services.

The individual will participate in and support the clinical service and teaching activities of both services in the UF Veterinary Hospitals (UFVH) and will be expected to develop and participate in collaborative research. Teaching responsibilities will involve didactic and clinical training of professional students, residents (ACVAA & ACZM), and interns and opportunities also exist for graduate student mentorship and education. Clinical responsibility will be evenly shared between the services in rotation with the current faculty. Anesthesia and Pain Management Service duties include the management of small and large animal cases, including open heart surgery. Zoological Medicine duties include veterinary care for zoological companion animals, native Florida wildlife, and three AZA-accredited zoological facilities. Our services collaborate with the college’s diverse clinical, diagnostic, and research services, as well as our enthusiastic educational professionals, to provide excellence and innovation in clinical medicine, education, and scientific investigation.

Expected Salary:

Rank and salary will be based upon the successful candidate’s professional qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Required qualifications for this position is a DVM or equivalent degree from an approved institution and diplomate status or eligibility of both the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia and the American College of Zoological Medicine, with diplomate status in both expected within 3 years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with anesthetic management of open-heart surgery is desirable. USDA Category II accreditation is expected within 1 year of hire.
