Job Description:

The University of Florida Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics in the College of Medicine seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty at theAssistant Professorrank. We are seeking researchers with expertise in implementation science, and an interest in aiding to the continued building of a department nationally recognized for excellence in implementation science and health. Research expectations are to establish and maintain an externally funded research program in using implementation science to improve the populations’ health. Educational responsibilities include teaching one to two courses per year in the Department’s Implementation Science courses and mentoring PhD and master’s-level students. Faculty members are offered formal mentoring by a self-selected team of senior-level faculty members to help them obtain their career objectives. We are particularly interested in applicants with the ability and experience to perform research in collaboration with diverse populations. We are seeking individuals who have a focus on the following research areas: (1) cancer prevention and control, (2) learning healthcare systems, (3) reducing disparities in health outcomes, or (4) the influence and ability to intervene with important social determinants of health, especially to improve the health of children and adolescents.

The position will be housed within the Division of Implementation Science and Health Interventions in the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics. The mission of the Division is to bring scientific evidence into clinical practice and the community to improve population health and achieve health equity. We seek a faculty member to join us in creating our vision of being a national leader in the development and application of innovative methods and approaches to create and translate evidence-based practices into real world clinical and population health settings to achieve health equity in Florida, the United States, and the world. The Division has 15 full-time faculty members conducting a broad range of research including implementation of multilevel pragmatic trials in cancer prevention.

The Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics has a strong agenda focused on research methods for prevention and implementation science, including health outcomes among vulnerable populations. The Department fosters collaborative relationships with investigators across diverse disciplines, including cancer control, pediatrics, medicine, biomedical informatics, molecular biology, epidemiology, genetics, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, policy evaluation, and health services and outcomes research. The Department works closely with the Institute for Child Health Policy, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Medicine, and the UF Health Cancer Center. The Department, with 35 full‐time faculty members and over 100 professional and support staff, provides an exceptional research environment with over $30M annually in extramural funding. The Department is also integrally involved in the University‐wide NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program and is specifically responsible for the Implementation Science Program. In addition, the Department collaborates closely with the UF Biomedical Informatics Programs. As part of the Biomedical Informatics Collaboration, the Department houses health care claims and encounter, surveillance, medical record and patient reported outcome data across a range of adult and pediatric populations. The Department also is linked to the Institute for Child Health Policy,

which focuses on risk assessment, prevention, quality of care, and health outcomes for children and youth. The environment provides exciting opportunities to develop multidisciplinary and translational collaborations across the lifespan.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate area (PhD in a health science discipline such as health services research, implementation science, economics, public health, psychology, or other appropriate health or social science discipline or MD with research training), an excellent record of scholarly publication, an independent program of extramurally‐funded research or demonstrated ability to develop such a program, including evidence of interdisciplinary, interagency, and/or international collaboration. Knowledge and experience in social and behavioral science theory, research designs, and analysis methods are required. Participation in Departmental training activities, including teaching and mentoring, and University service are also expected and valued.

Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and credentials.
