Job Description:

The University of Florida is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Admissions Officer. In this role, you will coordinate on-campus and nationwide events and manage recruitment efforts in an assigned territory, provide admissions counseling, assist in application reviews, and participate in decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities include:

Event Coordination

  • Design, execute, and oversee logistics for a variety of events for the Office of Admissions, including venue selection, catering, transportation, and more.

  • Maintain budget adherence and ensure high-quality event experiences.

  • Coordinate with Admissions staff to manage invitations, registration, and event resources.

  • Work with the Finance Team to review contracts and invoices.

  • Act as the on-site coordinator for on-campus events.

  • Assist with assigning staff and alumni for college fairs and travel programs.

Outreach and Recruitment

  • Overnight travel to assigned territory, including extended stays as needed, engaging with prospective students, parents, and school counselors. This includes using a state vehicle and occasionally driving long distances in support of recruitment efforts.

  • Conduct admissions presentations for large groups both on-campus and off-campus.

  • Provide admissions counseling to prospective students, parents, and school counselors.

Other Duties

  • Assist in holistic reviews of freshman applications.

  • Participate in decision-making and finalize applications for enrolled students.

  • Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor.

    This position is located at the University of Florida's main campus in Gainesville, FL and may be eligible for a flexible, hybrid work arrangement in accordance with the University of Florida and Division of Enrollment Management's policies.

Expected Salary:

$53,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work and communicate across a variety of cultures

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated abilities in leadership, problem solving and attention to detail

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
