Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Research Associate II based in Gages Lake, IL. This role is focused on analytical testing validation, verification, and transfer of test methods supporting pharmaceutical products, primarily stability testing. The individual in this position will be expected to contribute solid technical knowledge to a variety of projects with minimal assistance.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct critical chemical and physical analyses on end product stability samples, potentially also supporting testing of raw materials, initial in-process, and final product samples from manufacturing facilities or department projects.

• Perform review of test data, ensuring overall documentation practices meet company standards.

• Utilize advanced laboratory instrumentation and computer systems to collect, record, and maintain data.

• Perform advanced chemical assays requiring precise analytical skills and understanding of chemistry principles.

• Ensure compliance with company SOPs and specifications, FDA cGxP, and QSR regulations.

• Investigate deviations and write exception documents as necessary.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to solve problems, increase efficiency, improve quality, and provide product support.

• Uphold laboratory safety requirements, perform equipment maintenance and calibration, and troubleshoot basic instrument problems.

• Handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.

• Demonstrate effectiveness in training others, leadership, organization, and teamwork.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct critical chemical and physical analyses on final product stability samples, raw materials, initial, in-process, and final product samples with minimal supervision.

  • Review test data, including documentation practices and functions in LIMS or other computerized systems.

  • Utilise sophisticated laboratory instruments and computer systems to collect and record data.

  • Perform advanced chemical assays, completing all testing, including project or protocol testing in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with company SOPs, FDA, cGxP, and QSR regulations.

  • Investigate deviations and write exception documents.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to solve problems, increase efficiency, and improve product quality.

  • Maintain safety requirements, perform equipment maintenance/calibration, and troubleshoot basic instrument issues.

Qualifications:

  • Good oral/written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in advanced wet chemistry, volumetric preparation, and instrumental methods of analysis.

  • Proven ability to train others, display leadership skills, organizational skills, teamwork skills, results orientation, and task completion.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and deliver on time.

  • Basic writing and computer skills.

  • Must be able to interpret information and make recommendations to resolve technical challenges.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to hand write and use computers for a significant portion of the workday.

  • Ability to transfer materials, mix solutions/products, open products, and perform laboratory testing.

  • May require extended periods of standing.

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds routinely.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with analytical chemistry laboratory coursework and at least 2 years of experience.

  • Experience with analytical chemistry instruments (e.g. HPLC, UPLC, UHPLC, pH, KF, titration, etc.)

  • HPLC experience is required; Empower experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks and Pharmaceutical GMP laboratories is desired.

  • Experience with stability study execution and validation is a plus.
