Trinity Health Radiation Therapist Part Time in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Position Purpose

Radiation therapists operate machines, such as linear accelerators, to deliver concentrated radiation therapy to the region of a patient's tumor. Radiation treatment may shrink or eliminate cancers and tumors. Radiation therapists are part of the oncology teams that treat patients with cancer

What you will do:

* ASSESSMENT AND ANALYSIS OF PATIENT INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES

* Assesses daily the patient needs for information and reassurance. Provides information and

explanation to patient and family in terms they can understand. This is in accordance with

physician advice, department policy and radiation therapy standards.

* Refers questions regarding diagnosis, treatment or prognosis to the physician.

* Monitors side effects and reactions to daily treatment throughout the treatment course.

Documents in patient's chart and notifies the appropriate person.

* Maintains a comfortable atmosphere by offering the patient emotional support and

supporting the physician's advice regarding reactions and skin care. Provides patient

education on skin care, treatment information as appropriate for a radiation therapist and according to department policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduation from an AMA accredited school of Radiation Therapy is required.

* Knowledge of principles, techniques and methodology of radiation therapy is required.

* Behavior and personality conducive to working with cancer patients is necessary.

Licensure:

* Current State of Florida License as a Certified Radiology Technologist (CRT)

* ARRT (T) or eligible

* Current BLS Certification Required
