Description

Client is seeking a Revenue Cycle Payment Posting Specialist in the Plano/Frisco area. The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for accurately posting and reconciling payments, adjustments, and denials in the EMR. This role ensures that all payments are applied correctly and in a timely manner, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization by minimizing errors, reducing accounts receivable (AR) days, and supporting the revenue cycle management team.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately post daily cash receipts, including electronic funds transfers (EFTs), credit card payments, checks, and other payment forms.

  • Apply payments to the appropriate patient accounts in the EMR based on Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) or remittance advice.

  • Reconcile payments posted with bank deposits and batch reports to ensure all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are resolved.

  • Analyze EOB information, including co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, contractual adjustments, denials and more to very accuracy of patient balances.

  • Confirms dollar amounts received with existing insurance contract to ensure correctness in insurance company payment

  • Allocates unidentified payments to correct suspense account, documenting transactions to maintain adequate audit trail

  • Transfers accounts to account representatives for follow-up if insurance company adjustments are inappropriate

  • Assist in setting up Electronic Remittance Advices (ERA) for Commercial and Medicare payors.

  • Informs Revenue Cycle Manager, Supervisor or Lead on any problems with insurance companies regarding reimbursement.

  • Collaborate with the billing team and other departments as necessary to research and resolve any underpayments, overpayments, or denial issues.

  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate month-end closing processes.

  • Attends staff meetings and participates in other assigned duties as required

  • Maintain open communication with insurance companies, patients, and internal departments to resolve payment discrepancies.

  • Provide feedback to the billing and collections teams on trends in payments, denials, or payer issues.

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to identify areas for process improvement.

  • Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, client, staff, and organizational data.

  • Other duties and assignments as necessary
