Under general direction, a Parks Supervisor II, plans, schedules, and coordinates assigned programs of the Public Works and Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services (PARCS) Departments, including the maintenance and repair of parks, landscaped areas, and recreation facilities. Parks, trails, urban forestry, median islands and buffers provide a good source of beautification to the city. It is Landscape Maintenance's responsibility to make sure these areas stay clean and continue to improve the image of the City of Fresno.

The current vacancy exists in the Public Works Department, Landscape Maintenance Division. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.

Certification as an arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture preferred.

**THE REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for the examination and does not assure a place on the eligibility list.

Three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in the maintenance of landscape areas and/or commercial buildings.

AND

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred degrees include a Science, Administration, Management, or Engineering degree with a focus on Horticulture, Landscaping, Recreation Agriculture, or closely related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required at time of appointment and must be maintained for the entire term of employment in this class.

Depending upon assignment, may be required to obtain and maintain additional certificates and/or license.

**THE SELECTION PROCESS The selection process may consist of the following:

APPLICATION REVIEW - Qualifying Only: Applications which meet the minimum qualifications will be reviewed and a limited number of the most qualified candidates will be invited to the Oral Examination. Selection of the most qualified candidates will be based upon those applications demonstrating the greatest breadth and depth of applicable education, experience, skills, and training. Therefore, applicants are urged to submit sufficiently detailed information in their application materials for evaluation.

ORAL EXAM - 100%: A panel of subject matter experts will conduct a job-related Oral Examination to evaluate each candidate's knowledge of: Parks industry, safety management, supervision or other topics related to a candidates, training, experience, and qualifications for the position of Parks Supervisor II. Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list.
