Summary This AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR position, is located in one of the California 1106 Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Groups (TASMG) and is part of the CA 1106 TASMG. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, WS-8801-14, is to serve as the maintenance supervisor who provides overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities within the four major work functions (Scheduled/Unscheduled Maintenance, Avionics, Allied Trades, and Aircraft Systems.) All four work functions are organized with a subordinate supervisor and small shop chiefs due to the scope, volume, and complexity of operations. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose medium and heavy lift, multi-engine rotary wing transports to the most modern attack helicopters. Occupations supervised are somewhat similar, in that they all involve maintenance of assigned aircraft to ensure combat readiness; they are dissimilar in their functional areas, occupational series, and the diversity and complexity of systems for which each function is responsible. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required. Qualifications General Experience: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform the various aspects of disassembly, cleaning, lubricating, or assembling of aircraft parts, components, or subassemblies. Experience in the use of various production shop equipment, hand tools, measuring devices, power tools, and test equipment. AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, WS-8801-14: Must have at least 36 months experience in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel; Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
